ABOUT US:

Since 1997 the Trustees of The Whitehawk Inn have worked to oversee the dream of turning the premises into a community learning centre. By 2001, through investment from Government funding streams, the once dilapidated pub was ready to open its doors to the public as a fully refurbished computer training centre. Since then the Trustees have worked to draw in more funding and to build a staff team to develop the Centre. Their vision of a facility that works with, and for, the community to bring opportunities and services to the local area has now been realised.

People from all over Brighton & Hove come to the Centre to find out more about the wide variety of opportunities, workshops & courses on offer here and about opportunities for training elsewhere. Our range of courses has expanded from being purely IT, through the setting up of partnerships with other local training providers and organisations. We're also able to give help with preparing for work, job searches and benefit advice through these partnerships.

The Centre is now transformed into a vibrant hive of activity for people from across the whole community and they can not only come along to learn new skills, but also just enjoy relaxing in the bright airy café or in the garden with a cup of coffee and a cake!

Opening times:
Mon 9am - 5pm
Tues 9am - 5pm
Wed 9am - 9.30pm
Thur 9am - 5pm
Fri 9am - 2pm

During school holidays the Centre shuts at 2pm every day

Childcare

If you are in receipt of a means-tested benefit a free crèche place will be available to you, subject to funding. Very reasonably priced sessions are available at the crèche for families who do not qualify for a free place.

Accessibility & Adaptive Equipment

Not all parts of the Centre are easily accessible for wheelchair users; however, chairlifts provide access to the lower and upper floors. We have a range of equipment to help people who have a variety of disabilities such as visual and hearing impairment and mobility restrictions. Please mention your access and equipment needs when booking to enrol. We will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee availability for all courses.
